GENDER IDENTITY


Gender Identity

is a person’s deeply internal and individual experience of gender. How one identifies themselves – Am I a man or a woman? This feeling might not be the same as what people decided you were when you were born.


Transgender

Transgender people have a very intense experience of their gender being different to that assigned at birth. Transgender people often seek some form of medical treatment to bring their body and gender into closer alignment.


Transsexual

A medical term typically used to describe people who (may) use medical and surgical treatment to bring their body, sex and gender identity into alignment.


Transvestite

A crossdresser who dresses in the clothing of the opposite sex for various reasons, sexual or not, not because they want to change their sex or gender.


Transman (FTM)

An abbreviation for Female-to-Male. An FTM starts his life with a female body; gender is male. Always use male pronouns.


Transwoman (MTF)

A crossdresser who dresses in the clothing of the opposite sex for various reasons, sexual or not, not because they want to change their sex or gender.


What is Pronoun

A word that takes the place of a noun. Her, She, herself, it,him,he,himself. They , them ,themselves etc.
